Principal’s Message:
February brings relief that the cold winter month of January is over.
February also brings the sense of love and friendship in Valentines Day.
May we continue to be open to God’s blessings of love & Grace.
The students and staff have taken time to reflect on what we, at St. Gregory, believe and want our school community to be. Following is our belief statement:
St. Gregory
Is a
Faith filled School
Based on
Caring,
Respect &
Responsibility
We will strive to live our beliefs and through restitution, learn to develop self discipline to create a safe and caring school community for all. We invite you to be part of this endeavour.

Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books is an exciting type of reading club that uses a game show format to challenge teams’ knowledge of eight to ten pre-selected books from a variety of authors and genres. Teams are comprised of students in grades 6, 7 and 8. They are asked questions based on the characters, plots, and settings of the books. Points are scored by correctly identifying the titles and authors of the books. This is the first year for Battle of the Books in the Regina Catholic School. The students have been reading away and are beginning their inter-school “battles” this week. Zone tournaments and finals will take place in March.
The students participating in Battle of the Books this year include:
Madison Jerome, Heather Hinks, Martina Muhr, Hillary Mehlhorn, Nash Fisher, Carter Myers, Griffin Magee, Noah Perras, Drenz Morante, Jessica Derow, Raelyn Chartier, Sara Gottselig, Amy Morris, Samantha Bote, Haley Mehlhorn, Jessica Dyck, Braden Masse, Dallas Young, Tim Harden, and Tanner Stengler.
Volunteer SHOUT OUT!
I would like to extend a BIG thank you to Evelyn Matick and Leanne Van Betuw who have been helping to shelf books in the library. The students at St. Gregory are voracious readers and the amount of books coming in and out of the library is too much for one person to handle. If any
adults would like to volunteer shelving books, please contact me, Mrs. Courtney Dalrymple at the school
(791-7340) or stop in for a quick tutorial. You will not be held to a certain schedule; rather, you can simply volunteer whenever you have time. Any help would be appreciated.

Microwave Safety Reminder
If sending food that requires heating in the microwave, please teach your child/children the proper use of a microwave, at home.
Some thoughts to share:
Send food in the proper container for microwave use.
Never leave lid sealed. The dish should always be unsealed before it is put in the microwave. The lid can blow off if contents get to hot, which could cause burns.
Use caution when removing dish as it may be hot to touch – use potholder or other form of protection and uncover foods away from face for the steam to escape, to prevent burns.
Never use metal objects or aluminum foil in the oven.
Never turn on the microwave when empty.
If your child requires assistance with a microwave, PLEASE ASK for help.
Thank You for your support,
St. Gregory CSCC
