St. Gregory’s Reading Corner
September’s Accelerated Reading (A.R.) Kick-off was a great success! The staff and students were privileged to have three Saskatchewan Roughriders (Canadian Receiver, Michael Palmer; Defensive Player-of-the-Month, Maurice Lloyd; and Offensive Player-of-the-Month, Wes Cates) come out and talk about the importance of reading and going to school. The students have been eager to read ever since. A big thank you is extended to Kelly Forsberg, the Roughriders Community Relations and Events Coordinator, for making this memorable event possible.
The students will also be taking part in their own C.F.L. (Crazy For Literature) League. Each class has been assigned a C.F.L. team and will be competing against the other class teams to win the grand prize of a pizza party and class Laser Quest game. The Rules & Regulations are posted beside the football field bulletin board in our school. The list of the individual incentives for A.R. is listed on the following page.

New Play Structure:
Installed and Operational
On behalf of the CSCC Committee, a big thanks to all parents and families of St. Gregory for participating in fundraising over the past two years. These funds were put towards the purchase and installation of the new playground structure at St. Gregory School. Thanks to the City of Regina for the $9,400 contribution from the Community Partnership Program Grant. All proceeds combined were used to purchase the $20,900 play structure.
Special thanks to all parents and families who came out on Saturday, Sept. 20th to construct and install the structure. The knowledge and assistance provided was greatly appreciated, without all of you, the structure would not be assembled and operational today.

Special thanks to Doug & Kelly Buettner who provided endless supplies of beverages (coffee, flavoured coffee, ice caps & slushies). Also to Jesse, Kelsey & Noah Buettner for serving up these vital drinks on such a cool morning to aid the volunteers.
As well thanks to Brad Hinks for supplying us with Hostess chips to munch on.
To our baby sitters who watched over our younger children while we were all busy building the structure, thank you, without you, many of us may not have been able participate: Heather Hinks and Stephanie Seilman.
Thanks to Randy and Phil Wihlidal who took time to cut down the trees and make everything neat and tidy at the front of the school. Everyone can once again see our school sign.
Thanks to the ‘security’ team who gave an hour of time to watch over the structure after the installation to ensure no mishaps occurred while the cement dried - Kari Wihlidal; Lorena Miller; Melodie Wark; Dhilu Seilman; and Angie Zborosky.
An extra thank you to those who went back on Sunday to complete the finishing touches. Giving your extra time on the weekend was much appreciated.
It was great to have so many people come out and help with the structure. We know the kids of St Gregory School really appreciate it and have already been enjoying playing on it, so thanks again everyone. The structure will be enjoyed by many at our school and the community for years to come.
If we missed mentioning anyone, our sincere apologies, we did not mean to, thank you. We know that there were many people out on the weekend and we appreciate all the time everyone put in.
